Well, a long time ago health professionals thought that lung function declined every year after the age of 30! However they were wrong, dead wrong. It is now well known that lung function and capacity is simply a result of use, disuse, or abuse, and that you can improve it at any age. Exercise (along with not smoking) is the key, and regular exercising whatever age you are, helps prevent respiratory problems and improves your ability to cope with normal activities without getting out of breath.
