Well, forget trying to follow fad diets, the answer is to reprogramme your brain little by little. You need to learn that you can enjoy daily treats, as eating healthy isn’t designed to be a punishment. It usually takes months to get it right, but when you do, you will never look back.

The best place to start is your attitude and having belief in yourself. Next, find a goal or target that you can set yourself to work towards. Then, write down weekly small changes you can make to what you eat, or the way you eat. Learn everything you can about calories, fats, sugars, carbs, vitamins and minerals, as this will help you work out what changes need to be made.

Critically, make healthy relationships with people that encourage and support you, and see less of the people that consistently bring you down. The changes you make will need their support, just as much as your will to make them. Bad days will happen, that’s life, but by focusing on a new healthy you, you can reap the health benefits for the rest of your life.
