You may not have considered this bright red fruit, but you may once you know that it has antioxidant properties to rival green tea, red wine, and even most fruits. Other studies have shown how it can help maintain a healthy heart by lowering the risk of heart disease & stroke. It is also reported to reduce cholesterol, lower blood pressure, help prevent cartilage deterioration and possibly slow the effects of osteoarthritis and Alzheimer’s disease. Additionally Pomegranate has strong anti cancer properties according to recent medical research, especially with regards to prostate cancer in males. All this is due to the antioxidants of its tannins, polyphenols and anthocyanins.
Pomegranates are found in most food stores, and if you don’t like the slightly furry taste of the fruit itself, you may get on better with the juiced version which still has high antioxidants. Pure natural pomegranate juice will provide the most benefit, but can be a little on the pricey side. However pomegranate juice drinks are also available, and adding either as part of your daily routine seems a small price to pay for such big health rewards.
