If you’re addicted to spin classes, switch to the bike lane over spring and summer. There’s no wind resistance in a gym and you can therefore expect a better cardio workout outside, plus you’ll be working your hamstrings more intensely as well.
Treadmills are great for running in Autumn and Winter, but won’t work your glutes and quads as hard. Outdoors you can expect to burn more calories and work your core more effectively as your body adjusts to the terrain. Try running on grass or astroturf if you suffer creaky joints.
